Our Story

St. Mary's Indian Orthodox Church, located in Suffern, New York strives to make a difference in and around the communities in which our members live, work, play and worship. Our congregation is comprised of over fifty families, many of them consisting of young adults and children. Each individual, whether young or old, holds the potential to positively influence and inspire those around him or her. To develop and encourage these skills and talents, we plan events that allow our members to become active and strong members within the community.

This year, on September 28, 2019 the members of St. Mary's will be holding its 7th Annual 5K Run/Walk at Rockland State Park in Valley Cottage, New York. The goal of this years event is to raise more money than we have ever done to support a charity. This year we have this amazing well deserving charity that really depend on every single penny we can donate to them. This charity is near and dear to the Rockland County area.

People to People is Rockland County’s largest food pantry working to help struggling Rocklanders through difficult times with dignity through its various programs like Clothes Closet, Talk Turkey Program, and other amazing programs. The single mother, the senior citizen, the veteran who comes to People to People — they all could be someone you know. Life’s circumstances can change quickly – the loss of a job, the sudden death of a spouse, a tragic accident – can cause a drastic change in one’s ability to put food on the table and make ends meet. More than 95% of all donations go directly to providing programs and services. Less than 5% of funds raised are spent on operations.

All registration and donation money received from the event will be donated to this amazing foundation.

We hope that you will be able to come join us this fall to have some fun, be active and support a good cause! Please join us in being a part of the difference.
